USIHC is offering four virtual education seminars this year (one per month, January-April). Sessions will last approximately 1 ½ - 2 hours and include a lecture/presentation followed by a Q&A session, when members will be able to ask questions of the presenter(s). Each presentation will be recorded and available for viewing for 7 days. We hope you will join us!

Member Cost: $35 per seminar or $100 for the series

Sat, Jan. 20, 2024, 12pm ET:
Saddle fitting with master saddle maker Gudmundur ("Mummi") Arnarsson of Astund, and Holar graduate Mummi Skulason, Part 2. This session will look at how to go about selecting and fitting the right saddle for your horse, as well as trouble-shooting common problems that impact riding. This is a continuation of Part 1 from 2023.

Feb. 17, 2024 at 12pm ET:
Shoeing the Icelandic horse part 2 with Siggi Torfi.
This session will be a deeper-dive into the shoeing issues unique to the Icelandic horse, including shoeing techniques specific to the horse's unique gaits, as well as how to source supplies and materials in the US.

Mar. 16, 2024 at 12pm ET:
Endurance riding with the Icelandic horse with Survive Iceland competitor and Survive Iceland's Best Rider award winner, Sami Browneller. This session will discuss how well suited Icelandic horses are to endurance riding and how to start in the endurance riding world. 

Apr. 20, 2024 at 12pm ET:
Protecting you and your horse, legally speaking, with Jeff Rose.
This session will discuss issues of equestrian liability and how to reduce the same, horse insurance, and proof of horse ownership issues.
